Zoriah's Embed Assignment in Iraq Cancelled Because of His EyeWitness Blog Post About the Sucide Attack in Anbar
This is Laurel Havir Porter, writing for Zoriah who has no internet access. I received word from Zoriah that the U.S. Marines Public Affairs spoke with him early this morning, and demanded that he take down the post he made yesterday about the suicide attack. When he refused, they canceled his embed with them in Iraq.
When Zoriah wrote me, he stated that the Marines were arranging a special convoy and flight out of the area immediately. A sandstorm delayed the flight. He expects to arrive in the green zone soon. We will give you an update as the situation unfolds.

Free Zoriah! Free speech! Stop the war!

Thanks for sharing this post - I will pass it on to others as I can.
Glad Z was not injured or killed.
Prayers to the dead, the wounded and the relatives.

I find it strange that the marines have asked for this post to be taken down, and I salute Zoriah for refusing to. Excellent work from him, and it's a sad indictment of the situation that this has happened. At least he may end up a little safer...

I am a supporter of the war, and I think that our own military bureaucracy is more of an hindrance to our effort than the terrorists.
Your photographs are very good, and are a good documentation of the evil we are fighting in Iraq. Our bone-headed bureaucrats are trying to sanitize war...and by doing so, they help the anti-war crowd all the more.

The Marines are obviously upset that their friends are posed on your site. They are not bone-heads trying to sanitize the war, they want you to show respect for the friends and family of the dead. These families will suffer enough without the added pain of seeing their loved ones mangled on your site. The marines took you in and escorted you safely through Iraq and this is how you repay them? Talk about biting the hand that feeds you. Its too bad this happened, you are a very talented photographer. Just not really bright.

Thanks for showing what the politicians don't want the US and Canadian citizens to see. They truly believe the public is stupid enough to think all is rosy and cozy over there.
Shame on any military and government officials who had him removed. All he did was speak and show the truth, which soldiers are brainwashed to ignore.
