I have been here in Cairo for two weeks now and although the situation in Gaza has taken a lot of my time and attention, that was not my reason for coming here. The director of "In Harms Way – War Photographers" (if you are outside the U.S. you can find the video here) has become a close friend and invited me to join him here during the filming of a pilot for the History Channel.

The show follows a young intern as she comes to Cairo to work with archeologist Dr. Zahi Hawass. It is full of behind the scenes looks at new excavation sites, the catacombs of famous pyramids and other looks into the Indiana Jones-esque lifestyle of archeologists (in reality it seems like the job primarily consists of removing dirt from things, but there are definitely exciting aspects to it.)

I spent two days on set, enjoying the behind the scenes access to some pretty unique spots. I realize we have probably all seen more tourism pictures of pyramids than we could ever know what to do with, but I am putting a few more in this post. I paid special attention to the new dig sites and more unique areas.

After developing a friendship with the lead actress in the show and enjoying a dinner together in Cairo, the director got to thinking and approached me the next day about becoming a character in the program. I accepted his offer and have found myself on the set, playing the roll of the war photographer who befriends the damsel in distress by flirting with her at a local sidewalk café and cheering her up about her first-day-on-the-job woes. The whole thing is pretty silly but I enjoy the diversion from my regularly scheduled life and, of course, I am in no position to pass up the extra money, which I can use on future projects. I will post a link to the show when it is released.
I haven’t forgotten about the story I promised on the Catacombs of Paris. I will post it as soon as I have had time to catch up and finish editing it.

I think it is an amazing picture. Unfortunately yes war creates terrible things but the arguement should not be, why are we there the arguement should be why arent people supporting our troops. We follow orders we go to protect our country. Whether you agree or disagree were there.
