I am posting an important dispatch from G.M.B. Akash, who is currently working in the regions of Bangladesh effected by Cyclone Alia. I would like to personally thank him for the sacrifices he has made, the wet, uncomfortable, dangerous situation he has put himself into to capture these images. Hopefully they will spread awareness about this desperate situation.
Akash's words:
The cyclone triggered tidal surges and severe flooding. Several thousand homes in the area were washed away while agricultural land was swamped. More than 500 shrimp farms were flooded by five to seven feet high tidal surges in the effected areas. Aid agencies are warning that a lack of food and clean drinking water could lead to many more deaths.
