Impoverished Ethiopians search a city trash dump site for food and items that they can sell or barter in the capital city of Addis Ababa.
I am in Ethiopia working on several projects, including one on the lives of the impoverished people of this country. The government goes to great lengths to keep stories like these from being told, including arresting journalists, spying on photographers, etc. What is life without a few challenges right? I do feel it is important to capture such issues and bring them to light, especially when there has been little captured here in these regards. Assuming I dont "disappear" over here, I hope to bring you more images on these subjects soon.
Why the title "Ethiopia - Poverty and Famine" - Ethiopia is more than that! You know that!

I have read the article based on the Ethiopia.I like post very much as it contain informative knowledge.I am feeling sad to hear that the Famine occurs in Ethiopia. I've traveled to Ethiopia twice and saw great beauty and an amazing culture, which isn't what I was used to seeing in the media. My main images of Ethiopia prior to my travels was poverty, starvation, desolation, sickness and misery. So, I can't help but agree with Ben that I hope perhaps we might see some other images of Ethiopia that show some of the fascinating and gorgeous culture and country, since I don't think many folks are aware of the positives.

I have to agree with Ben and Jessica. The image of Ethiopia that is mostly portrayed around the globe is the one that involves poverty, famine and starvation. Though this is present in the country, it is not all there is to Ethiopia.
I live in Ethiopia and when people visit from other countries, I usually hear them say, just as Jessica did above, how different it is from what they had expected.
There are many good things about Ethiopia that have been cast into the shadows and forgotten because of how the international media portrays the country. I hope you found some of these during your stay here.
