As those of you who follow this blog already know, I was in Port au Prince, Haiti just three weeks ago working on a project. As news of the earthquake and its severity came in, I knew I could not sit back. Haiti is the first country I have ever been to in which I saw individuals in slum areas were so poor that they were actually eating cakes made of sand. This level of poverty is unacceptable and is now, after the earthquake, an even more dire situation.
.
I have spent this week working on a way to get back into Haiti and it appears I have finally found one. I am now in the airport on my way into the Dominican Republic and will then head into Haiti by land…with a little luck. I dont have as much time to put into this project as I would like, but my heart is with the Haitian people and I would like to do what I can to show the world what they are going through, and what they will continue to go through.
.
A woman makes pies out of sand, water and salt in the Cite Soleil slum in Port au Prince, Haiti. Many Haitians were so poor even before the earthquake that they were forced to eat these cakes of sand.

Good luck there and take care.
I follow your blog very often, and I was thinking what you were doing that no post about the Haiti crisis. But today when I check this, I saw the news.
I'm following online the Haitian Earthquake and I think that the main problem is that help is not going right to the people, and is being very difficult to give it to them. Only reports about it, but no good images that reflect the reality. Now with you there, think and imagine that your pics could show this issues.
this is my first post here.

Good luck and take care. Try not to be the star of the stories, as another journalists are doing, sadly...

Please let us know as much as you can.
I'd like to know why USA is sending 3000 soldiers? is it trying to occupy the country?
I guess Haiti now needs food , medicine, an people to help. and not money and so many soldiers. This is not a war. As I understand, the terrrible economic situation of Haiti is caused by USA. Since 1915, they imposed strong policies to steal all of Haiti's natuaral resourses. and to stop the development in the country.
So far, the people of USA is really helping, not the govermente.
Good luck Zoriah.

Often we forget the little guy, the SMB, in our discussions of the comings and goings of the Internet marketing industry. Sure there are times like this when a report surfaces talking about their issues and concerns but, for the most part, we like to talk about big brands and how they do the Internet marketing thing well or not so well.

in what kind of world we live, how is possible that people have to eat sand, salt and water cakes, where are all those governments that say "yes we help", is a total shame say that I share the world with a pack of this kind of humans, yes maybe myself don't be the better human being in the world, but I gonna tell you this all those who spend a lot of money in foolish material whims must take that money and help this people.

The 2010 Haiti earthquake was a catastrophic magnitude 7.0 Mw earthquake. This is really sad, after countless formidable global contributions, these people can't even buy reinforced tarps for their now apparently, permanent housing as well.
