The plight of the Rohingya people is far, far from the headlines, which of course makes it one of those subjects that is important for people to pay special attention to. Nearly a year ago I spent some time in Rohingya refugee camps in Bangladesh and unfortunately am just now finding the time to edit the pictures. Like many of the subjects I cover, I am quite sure nothing has changed there since I took the pictures. Of course nothing may change even with my photos, but even if a few thousand more people become aware of the subject, it is a step in the right direction.
I hope to finish editing this story in the next month or two and will post the feature story here once it is done.

Bout the Rohingya people, the issue actually goes to Thailand and Malaysia. One big problem is that Malaysia does not recognize UNHCR and therefore the Rohingya people was and still is easily manipulated, even by the government authorities in Malaysia for human trafficking purposes. Of course, such information is hidden from the public. I am a Malaysian myself, and I am sad that my country resorts to such methods of not accepting the Rohingya people as refugees in this country. Therefore, I hope your research will take you deeper into the story of the Rohingya people..

There are more than 10 million refugees in the world today, which is an overwhelming number for any refugee resettlement sponsor. However, every refugee family that is resettled in another country is one less family stuck in inhospitable conditions in a refugee camp.
My family and church support group has resettled 8 families here in Wisconsin. Though we know that isn't nearly 10 million, that is 8 fewer families stuck in those situations, and 8 more families contributing to society.
