Ok, I dont know anything about CareerCast, so I am not sure how much actual science went into this, but in their recent guide to the nations (United States) most and least stressful jobs, photojournalism came in as the fourth most stressful. Here is a bit of the list:
1. Commercial Airline Pilot
2. Public Relations Executive
3. Senior Corporate Executive
The articles also gave figures such as "stress rank, stress score, hiring outlook etc." What was most interesting to me was what was listed as the average income for each job (I have included their quoted figures above.) Of course no one gets into photography for the money, but you would think that the fourth most stressful job would be at least a little bit closer to the rate of pay of the third...not 1/4th of the pay! I would have liked for them to also include factors such as "likelihood of stepping on a land mine, possibility of getting shot or kidnapped, chances of ending up with PTSD etc." I think that if these things were considered we may have made our way further up the list.
Anyway, the executives can keep all that money and I will keep all of my experiences and friends in every corner of the globe. $43,270 is not the worst thing in the world, as long as you are not having to make payments on a mercedes and 2nd home :)
