In this new section I hope to draw attention to the work of master photographers and master photojournalists (masters in my opinion at least.) Some of you will already be aware of the work of these shooters, but for those who are not I am sure you will enjoy exploring their images as much as I have.
Paolo Pellegrin is an Italian photojournalist with many awards under his belt, such as the Robert Capa Gold Medal and the W. Eugene Smith Grant for Humanistic photography. He is currently with Magnum photos. Paolo has a very different approach to his photography than I do, as a matter of fact the quote on his Magnum page reads ""I'm more interested in a photography that is 'unfinished' - a photography that is suggestive and can trigger a conversation or dialogue. There are pictures that are closed, finished, to which there is no way in." You can see this philosophy in his images, which are dark and surreal.
I would say that my approach to photojournalism is in many ways opposite, as I want my images to have a very clear message. What Paolo does with his work that I truly love, is he brings a very definite mood to each of his pictures. I think it is as important to portray feelings and mood in photojournalism as it is to tell "facts."

You can find more of his images on the net but I have not found a personal website of his.
